Tim Ferriss Makes me Happy

It’s no surprise to my closest friends that I have many interests. And that I go with my heart.
What does that translate to?
Following my heart in many directions. In the last year, I’ve:
- Toured universities in Taiwan for my album.
- Worked with a team to create a super shopping cart (which we may patent).
- Created a cool event that involved the top law firms in the Valley
- Blah blah
This is not a narcissistic post, I have a point. Promise =) So tying it all back to Tim Ferriss. Who is he? Well for one, he was at LawYours last week. He’s also the author of The 4-hour Workweek. And also apparently a do-it-all-and-do-it-well entrepreneur! Which is why he makes me happy. If you check out his biography, the guy is impressive:
- Tango expert, appeared on Regis and Kelly
- MTV breakdancer in Taiwan
- Princeton University guest lecturer
- The list goes on……..
So why do I love the guy? Because he reminds us that doing what you love is fine, even if it means going into different industries! I’m often reminded to keep focus and stay on track (whatever that means). I’m getting an electrical engineering degree in a week, I love many things. Should I stay on the tech track? Should I pursue the entertainment route? Tim answered my question. Do what you love. It’ll work out (somehow).
A cool little video clip of Tim being interviewed (some German in there):

Awesome, thanks for sharing Dan!

So true.

I picked up a copy of his book at Lawyours and started finished reading it over the weekend. It was strange reading about how I feel about time and life management in someone else’s book.
This book is a must read, has some excellent insights, and I’d recommend it to anyone serious about living life while their young.
I ordered 2 copies from Amazon to send to friends.

You know what’s funny?
I ran the event but actually didn’t get a book at the end. ;)

Ouch, that sucks… I remember when I was leaving there were only a few left (and I left relatively early). I’ll shoot you my copy the next time I see you.

So basically he finds poor people and pays them less than he makes to do his work? Wow…I don’t know if that’s really really good or really really bad. Anybody out there want to make circuits for $10/hour?
