Update on Broke Tony

One of my favorite movies, know the tagline for this photo? First commenter with answer gets an e-mail hug. =)
I figured it’s about time I provide an update on my previously broke status. So far, I’ve done two things to address the problem:
- Since that time, I’ve moved funds from my stock trading account into my savings. I promised myself before that I wouldn’t take money out of my CDs or stock accounts. But a few of you brought up the awesome point that the whole reason I promised myself not to touch that money… was to save it for the rainy days. The rainy days seem to have arrived :)
- My buddy Noah gave me a hand. I’m running the next E27 event (see Community Next) and getting paid for it. Really great stuff. I mentioned in the comments on my previous post that I wanted only to do a job if it was both exciting and paid. This is it. Creating, pitching, and networking are all included in the package. Thanks Noah!
I’m also spending a lot less on food and such. Making lunch as opposed to eating out. Eating dinner at home. So I guess the bottom line is that I’m saving and making. Not saving a lot and not making a lot. But I see this phase as a transition. After all, I’m still in school and that’s important.

I’m broke right with ya, Tony! Divorced and single Dad of 2 great kids… one starting college this fall. Oy. I remember when I was shopping for boats… now I’m workin 18 jobs and waiting for just one to pay off. (not 18 per week, though).
Happiness is more important than money, though. As long as you’re happy, you don’t need the money.
